Welcome to The Write Flavor!
I’m Patricia L. Atchison, a Canadian author from central Alberta. The reason I love writing in the children’s and young adult fiction themes is that I missed most of my childhood while I had to adult and stress about outcomes I had no voice in.
With my writing, I have a voice.
Now it’s time to share it. No more hiding behind my keyboard, wondering if my writing is ‘good enough.’
So here I am, and if you’ve found me–that’s fantastic.
(Just a wee comment: I would normally use Canadian spelling - e.g., flavour, but I don’t wish to receive hundreds of comments regarding my newsletter name having a spelling error. But my stories will contain Canadian spelling going forth.)
I can’t say I am pinned strictly down to the young adult genre, but I find most of my ideas have a young protagonist involved. I enjoy writing stories of general fiction, and the odd inspirational story. My stories come from writing prompts, preparing for contest entries, emotions I’m feeling in the moment, and when I’m really touched by something, you may find a short poem (but I won’t call myself a poet).
My stories are ‘good’ from my heart–I find it hard to write about anything too evil or nasty. There’s still elements of conflict and adventure in my stories to keep you engaged.
Why am I on Substack?
I like the idea of Substack as all the background technology in getting the newsletters out is taken care of. It makes my work of sharing my creativity easier.
I’ll send out at least one newsletter a month. I don’t want to overwhelm anyone, but would love to inform you if I have some great news to share regarding my upcoming new releases.
